5 Tips for Seizing the Day

Repeating the same routine over and over again makes it easy to lose focus and become bored or unmotivated. There are many ways to spice up your routine, such as by add things into your day in order to regain that excitement. Here are 5 easy things that you can do to keep your day interesting.

1. Exercise

Staying active is really important for your mental health especially in regard to recent events. The gym is a great place to exercise if you know what equipment you want to use, but you may not have time to drive all the way to your nearest gym. Luckily there are more at-home workout options now than ever before. You can download workout apps, follow along with videos on YouTube, or simply take walks in your free time. 

2. Listen to a podcast

If you are someone who likes background noise or wants to listen to people talk about subjects that interest you, then you may enjoy listening to podcasts. There are a variety of different podcasts that consists of people talking about topics such as their daily routines, investing in the stock market, playing Dungeons and Dragons, and much more. You can listen to a podcast in a variety of settings too, such as in the shower, on your way to work, in between classes, before bed. 

3. Read

Many people associate reading with something they avoided doing in middle school or high school, but there are millions of books that exist today as well as several different genres that you can choose from. For instance, if you are into scary stories or cliff-hangers you can find mystery, thriller, or horror novels. If you are into non-fiction you can read historical books or autobiographies. If you enjoy fiction you can read dystopian novels, fantasies, or science fiction. And if you want a simple love story there are tons of romance novels that could be fictitious or non-fictitious. 

4. Journal

Journaling is a great activity in many aspects. It allows you to jot down any short-term or long-term goals that you may have. By doing this, you can return to them at any point in the future and track your progress over time. You can also write down any feelings you may be internalizing. Sometimes you do not realize how good or bad your day was until you are looking back on it as you are journaling. 


5. Learn a new skill

This may sound like it will take a lot of time, but it can be as easy as researching a topic that you have always wanted to know more about. You can look up recipes and store them in one place that you can look back on in the future and try to make. You can download an app that helps teach you a new language. You can use the internet to learn how to do card tricks which you can show off to your friends and your next social gathering.

No matter what you chose, it is important to remember that the world is full of fun ways to stay engaged. It is up to you to take action and start partaking in these ways to seize the day.
